Shopping on a budget doesn’t mean sacrificing style. This POSH post will share savvy shopping tips to help you find fashionable pieces without overspending and breaking the bank. Keeping the trend of 4 steps from my last post, here are 4 steps to follow to keep you on trend and in budget:
1. Set a Budget
Determine how much you can afford to spend each month on clothes. You should have a standard amount on your weekly/biweekly budget allocated for clothing. Stick to this budget to avoid impulse buys. If you have to shop for special events, make additional provision for those as they will typically cost more than day to day clothing.
2. Make a List
Know what you need before hitting the stores. Take note of the basics missing from the last post to replace; pants, blouses or blazers in standard colors. A list keeps you focused and prevents unnecessary purchases. Those unnecessary purchases can break the budget and clutter your closet with items that will have little to no use.
3. Shop Off-Season
Buy winter clothes in the summer and vice versa. Retailers often offer significant discounts on out-of-season items. Clearance racks are your best friend!! As I pointed out in my last post, shopping on the racks in Ross and Target are great! Walmart many times has hidden clearance that you can locate while in the store if you have their app.
4. Use Coupons and Cashback Apps
Websites like Rakutem and apps like Fetch can help you save even more with coupons and cashback offers. Not only during your purchases can you save, but afterwards you can get points to get gift cards or build up cash value to get a check cut to your CashApp or PayPal account - more to add to your shopping budget!!
With a little planning and these smart shopping tips, you can stay fashionable without overspending or what I like to say, #PoshOnABudget. Next post, we’ll explore how to create stylish work outfits from affordable pieces.
